August 11th - Happy Birthday Stephen Wozniak 

Stephen Wozniak is a computer scientist and co-founder of Apple Computers. He has gone from inventing in his garage in 1976 to being co-owner of the Apple company valuing over $800 million in 2017. This article is geared toward upper elementary students.

August 17th - Happy Birthday Davy Crockett

"King of the Wild Frontier," Davy Crockett was an American Folk Hero born in 1786. He was also a frontiersman, soldier and politician representing Tennessee in the House of Representatives. He also served in the Texas Revolution. Elementary students will enjoy learning more about this coon skin capped man and his larger than life tales.

August 18th - Happy Birthday Meriwether Lewis

Born in 1774, Lewis teamed up with William Clark in 1801 to become one of the most historic expedition teams to explore land west of the Mississippi. This activity is perfect for upper elementary students.

August 18th - Happy Birthday Roberto Clemente

Born in 1934, Clemente became the first Latin American professional baseball player to collect 3,000 hits in his career and later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates, he paved the way for Latin Americans place in the Major League Baseball. Elementary students fall in love with Clemente with this activity titled: Everybody's Hero.

August 19th - Happy Birthday Orville Wright

 Born in 1871, Orville Wright, along with his brother Wilbur, are best known as the "fathers of modern aviation.  The activity "Designing the First Flying Machine" is perfect for high school students.
